About Nita Angeletti
Nita received a B.F.A. from The Juilliard School, Drama Division under the direction of the late John Houseman. Upon graduation, she joined The Acting Company, toured extensively with regional and Broadway runs. Her performance career also included Spanish Flamenco Dance. She toured throughout the U.S., Europe and South America.
These intense theatrical roots and her passion and need to create beautiful things led her into the world of design, display and decoration. For 25 years she has been making mixed media one of a kind (OOAK) Art Doll Figures where fabric is the main element. Nita has been featured in numerous group and solo gallery shows and boutiques.
She has been a part of The Spaeth Design Team, NYC and has designed and built costumes for the major Holiday NYC Windows, including Saks. Lord &Taylor, Macy`s as well as other projects. This past year, 2017 she designed and built the entire Holiday Window for The American Folk Art Museum, NYC.
Nita began making “Wearable Art” Accessories for “real” people because she was constantly asked if she could make pieces for them like the “dolls” and she wore. It is her contemporary neck and headpieces that now take center stage. FABRIC is the main element of everything she does. Nita also gives workshops. Her work reflects an exuberant theatricality, a whimsical, sophisticated orchestration of joyful kaleidoscopic COLOR, TEXTURE, and TEXTILES and... more. Her painterly collage style and playful arrangements and distinctive juxtapositions distinguish her work. She uses fabric as if it were paint.
It is her intent to take the craft to a level of art which is achieved by constantly refining and developing skills. NITA'S INTENTION IS SIMPLY TO UPLIFT AND GIVE A SENSE OF JOY!
