Meet the Artist
Nita Angeletti began her artistic career as an actress, earning a B.F.A. from The Juilliard School in New York City’s Drama Division under the direction of the late John Houseman. After graduating, she joined The Acting Company, touring extensively in regional and Broadway productions. Her performance background also includes Spanish Classical and Flamenco dance.
Over time, Nita’s passion for creating beautiful objects drew her away from the stage and into the world of design and decoration. Following her heart, she began creating one-of-a-kind Art Doll Figures, using fabric as the primary element. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in New York City and throughout the United States and is collected internationally.
Nita later became part of the Spaeth Design Team in NYC and designed costumes for major holiday window displays for Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, and Bloomingdale's. She also created a life-size fairy doll for a holiday window at the American Folk Art Museum.
Inspired by these figurative works, Nita began creating handmade wearable art jewelry and one-of-a-kind necklaces when people repeatedly asked for pieces they could wear. Today, her contemporary mixed-media jewelry and accessories take center stage and have become her all-consuming passion.
Her work reflects her theatrical roots through bold imagination and playful composition. A distinctive blend of manipulated textiles, texture, bijoux, and color defines her artisan statement necklaces and wearable art jewelry designs.
Nita continues to explore unexpected materials and poetic configurations, creating one-of-a-kind handmade jewelry meant to uplift the spirit and bring a sense of wonder and joy to everyday life.
