About

Nita began her artistic career as an actress. She received a B.F.A. from The Juilliard School, NYC, Drama Division under the direction of the late John Houseman. Upon graduation, she joined The Acting Company, toured extensively with regional and Broadway runs. Her performance career also included Spanish Classical and Flamenco Dance. However, her passion to make beautiful things pulled her away from the theater and performing and into the world of design and decoration. She followed her heart. She began making one of a kind Art Doll Figures where fabric was the main element. Nita has been in numerous group and solo shows in NYC and throughout The United States. Her work is collected internationally. She has also been a part of The Spaeth Design Team, NYC and has designed and built costumes for the major Holiday Windows, including Saks, Lord & Taylor, Macy`s, Bloomingdales and more. She has freelanced on many projects, including a life size fairy doll for a Holiday Window for The American Folk Art Museum, NYC.

Nita began making “wearable art” Fashion Accessories for “real” people because she was constantly asked if she could make pieces for them to wear, like her figures and she wore. It is her Contemporary mixed media bijoux Jewelry and Fashion Accessories that now take center stage and are her all consuming passion. Her work reflects her theatrical roots. A playful arrangement and juxtaposition of manipulated TEXTURE, TEXTILES, BIJOUX & COLOR distinguish her work. She is forever refining and exploring interesting materials and poetic configurations. It is her intention to simply uplift and give a sense of wonder and joy with her wearable creations.
